Best of Fall ‘08

This week on War News Radio, we dip into our archives to put together some of our favorite pieces from the past few months.

First, we take a look at the Sons of Iraq program and the question of whether its members will find a place within Iraq’s security forces. Elizabeth Threlkeld reports.

Then, a bridge that was once the site of tragedy, becomes cause for celebration in a Baghdad neighborhood. Elise Garrity reports.

And we hear how Iraqis after the fall of Saddam found their voices through graffiti, and the impact of what they had to say. Dani Noble reports.

Finally, a look at how growing up in a war zone is impacting the way children play in Iraq. Anna Shechtman reports.

These stories this week from War News Radio.

This is a sermon by a non-Quaker, part of a significantly different group now. He's clearly fond of Quakers and does a credible job of talking about Quakers, though from the "outside", more or less. Rev. Kenneth McCauley's sermon, March 9, 2008. Part 1-3. Rev. McCauley talks about the impact of Friend's Meeting for Worship on his life and the world.

George Fox from Danish TV

Slash prints from Jan De Hartog's series on the "History of Quakerism". Originally produced in the 70's for Danish television. This is an excerpt from an English version which was never edited and therefor never seen publicly. I am currently in possession of the original 16 mm negatives from the unseen English version as well as slash prints (beaten up prints that were made for a rough edit) which I have been transferring in small sections at LIFT in Toronto, Canada to spark interest in the restoration of this unique educational series. The film to video transfer process is very pricy and time consuming. If you would like to offer financial assistance please contact Chuck Fager, the Project Coordinator at chuckfager@aol.com or if you have questions about the transferring process please contact myself, Bennett Jones-Phillips at resistcontrol@hotmail.com. Enjoy. There will be more clips to follow.
